Lunch at Drop-In Center
Volunteers are needed to deliver and donate about 25-30 lunches to our Drop-In Center. This is an ongoing opportunity. In order to avoid a scheduling conflict, it best to coordinate with me, the Community Resource Coordinator, a day to come in beforehand. You can either drop off individually bagged sack lunches or cook onsite at our drop-in center’s kitchen. There are no dietary restrictions. On the day that we agree for you to come in, please be sure to arrive between 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Our Drop-In Center is located at 3671 5th Ave, Sacramento, CA, 95817.
The following are suggested items to include in each lunch:
- Sandwich bread
- Sandwich meat & cheese
- Mayo & mustard packets
- Fruit cups
- Cliff bars or granola bars
- Dried fruit and nuts
- Small bags of chips or cookies
- Bottled water
- Fun Size candy bars
Wind has utilized past volunteers for group projects such as moving furniture, painting, gardening, cleaning, and construction. We have also had floor support volunteers who were responsible for organizing and stocking the clothing closet, retrieving supplies for youth as requested, and helping staff with administrative tasks. In addition, we’ve had volunteers organize donations and send out thank-you notes to donors. We have also had volunteers share information with the youth via informal presentations. If any of these opportunities interest you, or if you have any other volunteer ideas besides the ones listed, please do not hesitate to submit an application to email@example.com or mail the application to 8001 Folsom Boulevard, Sacramento, CA 95826 and I, the Community Resource Coordinator, will contact you when these opportunities become available.
